Knocking down Silos Challenge exchange!

The RHB Rules for the Challenge Exchange!

1. Post your biggest challenge with your name and email address:

bad posting: "My life is terrible!"
better posting: "I am looking for a job in hospitality"
best posting: "Does anyone have a connection with Starwood hotels or Four Seasons?"

bad: "I sell a line of products that [sentence goes on for 45 words]
better: "I sell something for people who have a lot of pain"
best: "Does anyone know a pharmacist who I can talk to and ask questions? I am trying to sell something but want a pharmacists viewpoint first)

2. Other RHBs can't get you a job or sell your product but we may be able to get you a conversation. Your job is to make us look good (eg send a thank you card to everyone who helps you and let us know how it goes)

3. Assume everyone is intelligent. Have a passion for what you do. Get over yourself. (if someone doesn't respond to your posting -IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU!)

4. Offer to help more than you ask for help; that's the code of a good guy or amazing woman.

My name is Christina and I went to a recent KDS talk at Guelph University and this is what really stood out for me during the talk. Treat everyone as if they were just as intelligent as you, never speak poorly of others because if the roles were reversed you would not like it people were showing you that same disrespect, and do something because you genuinely want to (to not expect anything in return).

My dream is to work for the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General. I would greatly appreciate an introduction to anyone involved with the Ontario Victim Services Secretariat Programs.

In return, I have a background in fitness and currently work for the Oakville Running Room and would be pleased to help you with your biggest challenge!

Cheers, Christina

First of all, Dave, I think a 'challenge posts' page is a great idea. Hope to see some more people up here soon!

I've created a video to teach people how to make their own beaded jewellery. Right now it's downloadable from my website, www.beadsbyu.com. My greatest challenge has been selling my video - so if you or anyone you know wants to become my affiliate, I pay out at 50%.

Thanks for reading, I hope I can help some of you when you post up here.

Hi everyone!

My name is Ildar Samit. I have a boutique web design company (samitwebsites.com). I'd love to hear from you even if you just wanna say hi: ildar@samitwebsites.com. I love surprise emails...

My biggest challenge is finding new clients. And of course, as the RHB master taught us, I'm only asking for one conversation.

Thanks a lot,
Ildar

My name is Andrew Netherton (RHB), and I met Dave a number of years ago at a KDS at the University of Waterloo.

My "problem" is literally an opportunity. I recently moved into a house in Waterloo (ON) with a private 2-bedroom apartment in the basement. We haven't rented it out yet, and my wife and I have been feeling that we'd like to do more than just collect rent, we'd like to be able to do some GOOD with this apartment. Whether that is helping New Canadians establish themselves, give an entrepreneur a break on a live/work space, house someone who had a house fire or is downsizing due to economic loss... you get the idea. We're not looking to give out a freebie, but we are quite willing to help someone out.

I'm posting this here on Dave's request, and I'm a little bit nervous about being inundated with requests, so please be diligent about any referrals.

The house is near the University of Waterloo, on a bus route that goes to UW and RIM, close to Erbsville and Columbia. If we can help someone you know that NEEDS the help, you may contact me at afn-2brapt@tenletters.com for more information.

Oh, and my biggest challenge is finding enough time to get everything around the house done, and finding babysitters for my kids.

Thanks, Dave! THIRD GEAR!!

My name is Graham Brooksbank. After graduation from Guelph, I've been in sales against my better career interests, which lie in brand development and bringing products to market.

I would like to build inroads into marketing consumer goods with a Toronto based company.

Big names include P&G, Nestle and SCJohnson but a connection with most any familiar brand targeted towards the consumer would be huge.

Lots of fellow Guelph people on here...I'll do what I can to help in your situations!
